A low threshold tour with exciting challenges for everyone in the family or tour group. Slightly easier tour than Haugabreen. Choose your group’s level of difficulty and you’ll have a trip you’ll never forget!
Info about tours to Nigardsbreen
This is a busy glacier with a lot of tourists. If you prefer more privacy we recommend the Haugabreen tour.
The trip’s group have a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 10. I do privat guiding as well for individual and groups.
The age limit is 12 years on open trips. (No age limit if you book a private guide)
Start time is normally 09.00 from Bøyum camping in Fjærland. Then we have around 1,5 hour driving to the glacier parking in Jostedalen.
The duration of the trip is 5,5 to 6,5 hours + driving time.
It will take 1h hour to walk from the parking to the glacier. The trail to the glacier is 2,5 km (1,5 mi) and 100 meter height meters to climb.
Time on the ice is 2h to 2h30.
On the ice we will walk around and between cracks . We will see ice towers, do some climbing training with the glacier’s equipment and have fun! It is possible to adapt the trip to your group’s skill level.
The price is NOK 1.150 per person. Bank transfer before the trip or cash on the day of the trip.
You will need your own car from Fjærland to the glacier’s parking.
What to bring:
– In general: appropriate clothes for hiking and climbing in varied conditions and temperatures, meaning both flexible and warm garments.
- Thermal layers – trousers and top
- Waterproof hiking trousers, top and jacket with a hood
- Waterproof hiking boots
- Gloves
- Dry clothes – add extra dry garments in your backpack just in case
- Water bottle – you may be able to refill from the glacial lakes
- Backpack (min 20 litres)
- Phone/camera
- Lunch/food/snacks
- Suncream
- UV-blocking sunglasses to avoid photokeratitis (snow blindness)
If there is something you don’t have on the list please tell me and maybe I can bring extra.
I provide the glacier’s equipment for the group. (Hardness, helmet, crampons, rope, ice axe)
